Mexican Specialities

Deep in Auckland’s suburbs exists a place that does the best Mexican food you’ll get in the pacific… not that I’m an expert, but if I were I’m sure I would say the same thing… Mexican Specialities. It’s hard to find if you don’t know your way around, the service is earthy and the whole thing has a homely feel. The hours are quirky as they’re only open for lunch on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. The food is authentic and prepared by a Mexican Chef. Alongside the food is an array of artifacts, jewellery and grocery foods one can purchase.

The greatest thing about it is that it takes around one minute to get from our back door to the store… if it’s sunny it takes a little longer as it’s nice to walk slower; maybe about a minute and a half.

The strangest thing is we’ve been living here for just under 9 months and tried it for the first time today. The food was a revelation! I had a prawn soft taco. The prawns were huge, the food was saucy and spicy and it ended way too soon!

It would be hard to beat a sunny day in Auckland’s suburbs sitting beneath a blue sky outside a tucked away Mexican food lover’s dream munching away on a taste of heaven.
